Gamification for Star Wars Rebels.

In a significant undertaking, Tokyo Digital was entrusted with the comprehensive development of the digital strategy for the European launch of Disney's 'Star Wars Rebels'. This encompassed creating immersive storyboards and crafting innovative gamification concepts to captivate the series' audience across Europe.

'Star Wars Rebels' is an acclaimed American 3D animated series set in the Star Wars universe, developed by Lucasfilm Animation. The series, unfolding 15 years after 'Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith' and leading into the narrative of the original 1977 Star Wars film, focuses on the growing rebellion against the Galactic Empire and the Empire's efforts to eradicate the last Jedi. Notably, the series' visual style is heavily influenced by the original trilogy's concept art by Ralph McQuarrie, skillfully integrating new characters with those from both the original films and 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'.

The European launch of 'Star Wars Rebels' required a digital approach that was both engaging and reflective of the series' rich narrative and visual style. Tokyo Digital's role involved not only the development of a digital strategy but also the creation of a suite of digital products that resonated with the series' themes and appealed to its diverse fan base. Our team devised interactive storyboards and gamification elements that allowed fans to immerse themselves in the world of 'Star Wars Rebels', enhancing their engagement with the series.

The series debuted with the one-hour TV film 'Spark of Rebellion' on October 3, 2014, on Disney Channel, followed by its airing on Disney XD. Each subsequent season was introduced with a one-hour film, culminating in the fourth and final season's premiere with 'Heroes of Mandalore' on October 16, 2017, and concluding on March 5, 2018.

Tokyo Digital's involvement in this project was instrumental in building a comprehensive digital experience that mirrored the series' storytelling and visual appeal. Our digital strategy aimed to create a unique and interactive digital footprint for 'Star Wars Rebels' in Europe, contributing significantly to the series' successful reception and enduring popularity among European audiences.
